Down The Rabbit Hole or Shadows of Unforgotten
Down The Rabbit Hole or Shadows of Unforgotten Ancestors is a short mixed-media animated film inspired by a dream where generations of relatives gather at one tea table, and history unfolds in symbolic, surreal ways. Blending archival photographs with layered imagery, it mirrors the fragmented yet intimate nature of dreams. Tracing 20th-century Russian history through one family’s experiences, the film becomes a hypnotic reflection on how we think, dream, and remember. Drawing on the art of filmmaker and collage artist Sergey Parajanov, the film is both a tribute to his legacy and an homage to ancestors—those met and those never known.
